What I Will Do If You Hire Me
First, I will read your entire manuscript once―to get the feel for your voice and to learn how your story unfolds―so that
I will be better able to catch inconsistencies on my second read. I will make only light edits at this point,
as well as tagging major areas I want to focus on.
I will then read it a second time, fixing grammar and spelling, clarifying internal consistencies, flagging elements that do not follow logically, and doing a basic level of fact-checking. (Upon request, I will gladly do an extensive fact-check.)
I also will apply the rules of one of the two major style guides: the Chicago Manual of Style for books, or the Associated Press Stylebook for periodicals. I have experience with many other guides, and will be happy to use them if requested.
What I Need From You
Send me 3-5 pages of your manuscript, double-spaced, in 12-point Times Roman. I will edit this sample and
return it to you, so that you can see what I can do for you and decide if I have what you’re after in a copy editor.
Please contact me at Steve@ProofPerfectNM.com to discuss your copy editing or proofreading needs.
Thank you!
